Aeris was raised in the Midgar Sector 5 Slums, and grows flowers to sell on the street, which is how she met Cloud. Soon after this, she decided to join him. When she was only a child, her biological mother died, and she was raised by a woman who had found her wandering about. She is a member of an ancient race, and therefore is able to forsee her own destiny and listen to the voice of the planet. She is aggressive, very courageous, and a bit adversarial. Aeris is perhaps one of the most important characters to keep in your party. She has low HP, but her MP is high, and her Limit Breaks are VERY useful.

The leader and founder of the Anti-Shinra group Avalanche. Barret was tutored by an astronomer in the Cosmo Canyon where he learned about life and about the planet. He now tries to do whatever possible to keep Shinra from destroying the planet. He blames himself for the destruction of his village, when in fact it was caused by The Shinra reactor. In that same incident Barret lost his arm and replaced it with an artificial one. He is often angry and seeks revenge on Shinra for the death of his wife. He now lives for his daughter Marlene. He is a good character to use near the beginning of the game, but later on I would rather have Vincent or Cid in my party. His low magic ability doesn't help much either.

Cait Sith (pronounced Ket Shee) is a cat that controls a stuffed Moogle that he brought to life. Little is known about him, other than the fact that he is very unreliable and will not hesitate to escape from battle. He doesn't attack directly; he shouts orders to the Moogle, and it attacks for him. His limit breaks offer variety, but he is not exactly an ideal party member.

Cid is the brave pilot who will face any danger that may oppose him. He remains an employee of Shinra only so that he may one day fulfill his dream and travel into space. Shinra has taken away his dream and his Airship, Highwind. When they attempt to take his plane as well, he becomes fed up and joins Cloud on his quest. Cid is an excellent fighter who definitely deserves a spot in your party. His HP is high, and his weapons are some of the best in the game.

Cloud was born in Nibelheim, and has idolized Sephiroth since he was very young, and always hoped to be just like him. He left his home to join SOLDIER, and was promoted to SOLDIER First Class. After certain events happened, he resigned from SOLDIER and became a mercenary. After being hired by Barret and Tifa to join AVALANCHE, he gets caught up in the struggle to save the planet. He pretends not to care about anything but money, buy on the inside he believes in what he is fighting for. Cloud is the most powerful character in the game, with high HP and MP, as well as superb magic skills. His Limit Breaks are very powerful, and should not be held back. Just don't let him hog all of the kills.
