Red XIII is a mysterious creature who looks threatening, but is really very kind and gentle, with an intelligence level far beyond that of any human. He was raised by Bugenhagen in Cosmo Canyon, until he was captured by Shinra's science division as an experiment. He was rescued by Cloud from Hojo's laboratory inside the Shinra building, where he had been tattooed with the markings of XIII, showing that he was the 13th of 13 experimental samples. He wants to save the planet, which is the reason he joins Cloud. He is a very useful character to have in your party when you get him, and remains fairly useful throughout the game. His attacks are powerful, as is his magic ability.

Tifa is one of the main members of AVALANCHE, and the owner of the bar Seventh Heaven, which serves as their hideout. She was born in Nibelheim, and was a longtime friend of Cloud. Five years ago, her father was killed by Sephiroth in "the incident", and she was seriously injured. She was trained my the martial arts master Zangan, and has gained great speed and agility. Despite her cute appearance, she can destroy anything with her fists. She is bright and optimistic, and cheers up any party members who feel down. She is one of my favorite characters, as she has great attack power and magic skills, as well as some of the best limit breaks in the game! Don't waste her ability by leaving her out of action.

Vincent is the mysterious man who sleeps in the basement of the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. He has a profound hatred for Shinra, specifically Hojo, for turning him from human to the entity that he is now. Little is known about his past, except that his hatred for Shinra is what made him join Cloud and the others. The gauntlet on his left hand contains great mystical powers, and seems to reflect moonlight. He is a very valuable character to have in your party, with great power in both his attacks and magic. His limit breaks are extremely powerful, as they cause him to morph into powerful creatures with phenomenal strength and abilities.

Yuffie comes from a long line of Ninja, and is the daughter of their leader. She opposed her father for allowing Shinra on their land, and is searching for Materia Orbs so that she may reclaim her land, and their clan's lost glory. She is very sneaky, and will steal from you whenever she gets the chance. However, her with her power and skill, she is a very valuable character to have in your party. Her limit breaks are great, and she has very good magic abilities.
